Crafts, when can we say that a particular profession is in this field of activity?
That’s a big question, I’m going to try to give it a very personal definition.
In my opinion: "craftsmanship is a set of know-how put together through a history, an experience materialized in a mastery which allows the production of transformed products or authentic services".
What is the impact of machine or automation in crafts?
So my partner will sum this up better than me:
"It's quite simple, what makes craftsmanship unique is the application of inherited know-how and the authenticity of the result after the work. The use of machines makes it possible to facilitate the work, to give certain regularities desired or imposed by the market and therefore to support craftsmanship, but the problem comes from its extreme application: automation which imposes standardization."
At Abarings we have jewelry that weighs a certain weight whether it is in bronze or silver so that each model offered is comfortable, resistant, refined and original. Everything is handmade and despite this, we offer jewelry as alive as the materials that compose them. Each piece of jewelry is different from another but we have very precise specifications for each reference.
The goal is very clear, an Abarings jewel is timeless and will follow you for many years. The metals used, which are precious and alive, are durable and robust; we treat them with great care when developing an Abarings jewel in both bronze and silver.
